Its Fall again and that means: the leaves change color and fall to the ground, Apple and Pumpkin carving, temperatures begin to drop and eventually Snow arrives. October is officially designated as Fall Car Care Month. The month of October is a great time to get your vehicle caught up on Overdue Maintenance and prepare for the cold, snowy winter ahead! So how can you get your vehicle ready for Winter?  Paul's Integrity Auto Repair located at 640 Main Street in Rollinsford, NH 03869 has put together 10 Helpful Tips to get you your vehicle ready for winter and keep you and your loved ones safe on the road!

1) Check your Fluids and have them Serviced: Your vehicle is a carefully built machine, much like the human body. Your vehicles engine needs Oil to lubricate the internal metal components so that they don't burn up and seize up. The engines Antifreeze is used to cool the internals of the engine and keep it from overheating. Like a cars engine, the human body needs blood so that it can bring much needed nutrients and oxygen to the body parts. Its also important to check and have your vehicles power steering fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid and differential fluid serviced regularly by an Automotive Professional.

2) Hoses and Belts: Your engine Serpentine Belts and cooling hoses are vital to  proper engine performance and preventing vehicle break down. Living in New England brings erratic changes in temperatures, this causes belts to develop cracks, fray, stretch and become loose. Your engines cooling hoses should be checked for leaks and for structural integrity.

3) Check your Battery: Summer heat does a number on your vehicles battery charge, you wont realize your battery is weak until the cold sets in during the Winter months, by then its too late. Look for signs such as delayed starting, loose battery terminal connections, battery terminal corrosion, flickering lights on the dash and a flashing battery battery light on your vehicles dash. Have your Battery and Charging System checked by Paul's Integrity Auto Repair.

4) Check your Brake System: During the cold, snowy months ahead you will be relying on your vehicles brake system to bring you safely to a stop. It is recommended that you have your  vehicles Brake System checked at a minimal of every 6 months. When your vehicle is in for a simple oil change our Certified Brake Technicians will inspect your brake linings, rotors/drums, brake lines, hoses, calipers and Emergency Parking Brake

5) Check your Exhaust System: Its important to have your vehicles Exhaust system checked periodically and inspected for rust, holes, leaks and other possible damage. Its dangerous to drive with an exhaust leak because Carbon Monoxide fumes leak into the vehicle, putting you and your loved ones at risk. If you hear unusal noise from beneath the vehicle, smell strange fumes or  other smells, have a vibration under the vehicle when driving its time to get into an auto repair shop near me and have your vehicles Exhaust System looked at.

6) Check the Heating and Cooling System: You might think that it is not important to have a working A/C when temperatures are cold, but it actually dehumidifies the air inside of your vehicle, helping prevent fogged windows. Its important that your vehicles heating system keep you warm during the frigid Winter months and be able to defrost your windows.

7) Steering and Suspension: The roads in New England are full of pot holes and your vehicles steering and suspension takes a beating. Its important to have your Steering and Suspension checked periodically, including Shock Absorbers, Struts, sway bar links, tie tod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, control arms/bushings and Steering Gear.

8)Check the Tires: Before the harsh, New England Winter arrives, its important to have your tread and condition of your tires checked for wear or damage.  Its important to check your vehicles tire pressure often because every 10 degrees drop in temperature the tires loose 1-2 pounds of air pressure. While the vehicle is in and the tires are being inspected our Certified Automotive Technicians and Paul's Integrity Auto Repair, will check for uneven tire wear. Uneven Tire wear could be do to faulty or worn Suspension and Steering Components or the vehicles Alignment is off.

9) Check Wipers and Lights: During poor weather it is important that you are able to see through the windshield clearly. If your wipers are leaving streaks on your windshield or squeaking its time to replace them. Its important to replace your wipers with a good quality set, the old saying still stands, "You get what you pay for". Have our Certified Automotive Technician verify that all your lights are working properly. Your vehicles lights should be checked periodically.

10) Wash your Vehicle: The snowy, cold months of Winter means lots of salt will be spread on the road ways. This is good for keeping us safe, but not so good for our vehicles. Its important to wash your vehicle, including the underside periodically to prevent corrosion of your vehicles body and frame.
